Legacy
Honoring what they gave the scarlet and gray.
To help all former Ohio State University athletes who have entered a time of critical need in their lives due to unforeseen detrimental circumstances — with the resources, mentorship and financial assistance that support, rehabilitation and recovery demand.
Careers are measured in yards and seasons. Lives aren't. Injuries linger, industries shift, and the unforeseen doesn't check your stat line first. Detrimental circumstances demand large amounts of money and time — for support, rehabilitation and recovery. No former Buckeye should face that drive alone.
Honoring what they gave the scarlet and gray.
Mentors and teammates who pick up the phone.
A base that shows up on game day and every day.
Beyond the Goal Line is an athlete charity built around former Ohio State players from a single program. Every Ohio State former player who competed for the university — walk-on or All-American — has a place here, which is what makes BTGL's former college athlete support more personal than a broad, national fund could be. The BTGL programs page explains how resources, mentorship and financial assistance fit together, and the BTGL donation page explains the available ways to support that work.
Football to fencing, rowing to wrestling — if you wore the block O in competition, you're one of ours.
Whether your last season was in 1975 or last spring, the door is the same and it's open.
Medical, mental health and recovery, legal, natural disaster, crime victimization, education — the six critical needs we stand behind.
BTGL's focus is the person after competition, across sports and eras. A former Ohio State player or someone reaching out on their behalf can read about resources, mentorship and financial assistance before starting a private conversation. The six critical needs on that page include mental health and recovery; listing a need describes the scope of the mission, not a guaranteed service or result for an individual request.
Beyond the Goal Line is independent of Ohio State University. References to former Ohio State players describe whom the organization focuses on, not a university-run program or endorsement. If you have a question about the mission or a personal circumstance, use the private contact page rather than posting case details publicly.
Former Ohio State athletes in critical need can reach out confidentially to BTGL through the Contact page. BTGL starts with a conversation about the circumstance, timeline and need, then brings together resources, mentors and funding as appropriate.
